This Food Thing

Image

Recently, I decided to take a 2-month hiatus from eating out (excluding weekends…sorry, can’t give that up yet). Seriously, it’s necessary. I don’t know what it is with me and trying out different places, but it’s reached the point where I look at my budget and see an unreasonable amount going to various restaurants. Between eating out for lunch and trying out new spots with the ladies, there is NEVER NOT an inappropriate time for eating out.

Friend 1: “Oh, I’m craving potatoes” – Friend 2: “Oh really? So am I! Let’s go to <insert restaurant>”. It’s just that easy LOL, but I’m ready for the challenge of taking my funds back to the kitchen and into the refrigerator.  It’s going to be a stretch, because as my mom says, “food to Whitney is like an event.” And she’s not exaggerating – so ridiculous, but with all these food blogs, I see that I’m not the only one, right? Well, with the help of my family, friends and foodnetwork.com, there’s hope for an endless amount of recipes. What are some of your favorite dishes to cook?

Cheers to cooking at home!

Sangria Y Los Dinos

Last Friday, I let my hair down and invited a few friends over for what I thought would be a relaxing and intimate cookout. I wanted to throw a small gathering to just reconnect with friends and let my “inner Joan Clayton” out of her shell.

The night was a mix of fun and foolery. We lit candles, played all types of music that ranged from African Zouk to Meek Mill, lol. The sangria was flowing and my Kabobs were on point!! What surprised me the most was the crowd….it was diverse to say the least. Towards the end of the night conversation got a little intense as it often does when Hampton folks get together. We talked life, career and of course – relationships.

All in all I had a great night and next time around, I’ll be sure to make enough kabobs for everyone.
